Hormonal Teenagers

Oh Boy is this fun....Lol  My 16 year old daughter is quite amusing once a month.  Every month is interesting.  I never know what to expect.  I have been told that I need to start meditating and I truly believe that I need to so I can deal with teenage girls. Lol...

So, today she was HORRIBLY CRAVING CHOCOLATE.  I picked her up from school and she was in a bad mood.  So I asked her, "Are you hungry?"  She answered "No".  I then asked her "Are you tired?"  She answered "No".  Then she tells me how she is hot.  Now mind you, it is either in the high 80's or low 90's and she has a jacket on.  So I tell her, "Well maybe you should take off your jacket" and then I get THE LOOK.  I then know that I need to just stay quiet, breathe and let her be.  We finally get home and she begins to tell me how hungry she is.  Our house is maybe 15 minutes away from her high school. She then begins to look through all the cabinets.  I ask her "What are you looking for?", she then replies, "CHOCOLATE.  I REALLY WANT CHOCOLATE.  WAIT, I REALLY WANT CHOCOLATE COOKIES!"  So when inform her that we have no Chocolate Cookies or Chocolate, she breaks down and starts crying.  At this point, I cannot help it, but to break out into a laugh attack.

At this point, as a mom I know she is being extremely hormonal and she has no clue what is going on with her body.  So this mom knows that what I need is patience and to hold her.  I go to her and give her a big hug and keep laughing. And a few seconds after, I ask her "What is wrong?  Why are you crying?"  and she starts frantically laughing and says "I don't know, Mom".  I then laugh louder and hold her tight and tell her how she is about to get her period and she is just hormonal.  I explain to her how we, as women, at times have no clue how to handle or control our feelings and how women are the only ones that can understand.  I then asked her "How about ice cream?"  and she laughed.

As a mom, only I can understand how she feels.  Maybe the time has finally come to start meditating and try yoga.  I am not sure if there are books about this but I need to start doing some research or breathing more heavily in and out, as I have 2 girls that are 15 & 16 years old.  Ohhhh boy.  This is going to be one interesting journey for a couple of years. Let the Universe help me...Lol
